Hello!
I’m a writer and editor with a decade of experience at the intersection of glossy magazines and book publishing. For the past decade, I worked as an editor at national magazines, including Esquire and Town & Country. Most recently, I was the Books and Fiction Editor at Esquire, where I oversaw books coverage, founded Esquire Book Club, and commissioned original fiction. As an editor, I worked with Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning writers on features, essays, and fiction; as a writer, I reported viral stories about the publishing industry, profiled Hollywood celebrities, and drew thousands of listeners to live conversations with authors. In a feature about my leadership at the helm of Esquire’s books section, The Chicago Tribune wrote, “It is writing about books that is smart and goes beyond the listicle without being only for the literati.”
In January 2025, I opened my own editorial services firm, Adrienne Westenfeld Editorial. I’ve spent my entire career empowering writers to do their best work, and now, I’m thrilled to continue that mission as an independent editor and business owner.
I’ve spoken about writing and editing on several panels; I’ve also taught the craft in a variety of formats, including with Poets & Writers. You can find me on podcasts talking about everything from books to crypto bros, or hosting literary events around New York City at bookstores and libraries. I am a member of the Writers Guild of America, the Society of Professional Journalists, and Phi Beta Kappa.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing. Originally from the Midwest, I now live in Brooklyn, New York. When I’m not reading or working on my novel, you can find me cooking, exploring museums, volunteering, and working in my community garden.
